I got off to a rough start this week with exploring social bookmarking using Diigo. I had no idea what social bookmarking was and it seemed very difficult and time consuming. After reading the instructions from Dr. B, I felt a bit overwhelmed with all of the links so I put it off for a few days.

I finally created my Diigo account toward the end of the week. I had some difficulty when I tried to add the educator upgrade. After emailing Diigo, they said my private school email address doesn't follow the format that their system recognizes, so I would need to follow some other steps they provided and then they would get back to me within a few days. I have not heard back from them yet, so I am still unsure of what I might be missing out on.

I joined the Diigo group for etec 527 and checked out some of the links posted by my classmates. I had no idea how to go about bookmarking and adding things to the group so I once again consulted my trusty source- YouTube! Sure enough, I found an excellent step-by-step guide to bookmarking! I was able to add the Chrome extension for annotating as well.

After finishing the YouTube video, I was on my way to practicing bookmarking! I found a couple of tech related resources and added one to the group and the other to my library. Now that I feel comfortable with doing this, I think I will find many ways to use Diigo.

I teach Pre-K/K so I don't plan to use Diigo with my class, however I think it will be an excellent tool to use with my teaching team. I am often emailing them links to various articles and videos, but I feel like Diigo will be a way to keep that more organized and prevent people from having to search their inbox for specific items. My usual way of remembering articles and/or websites is to take a screenshot! As you can imagine, my camera roll is often very full! I think I have found a solution to this problem in Diigo!
