Professional Development and Learning Using Web 2.0

The past six weeks have a been a journey through many web 2.0 tools! I have certainly enjoyed exploring many of the tools, however there are a couple that I have not really gotten the hang of just yet. Maybe I just need more time and experience in using them.

Protopage has been my favorite new tool to learn about. I love having this one-stop place for all the sites I visit often. I can definitely see myself using this in the future by creating a page of professional development resources to share with my teachers.

While I was already familiar with YouTube, exploring it further has been so helpful now that I am using it on a daily basis for distance teaching. I am so glad to be able to create playlists, etc and I know I will continue to work with and learn about YouTube as I gain more experience. My next YouTube adventure is to learn how to edit my videos!

Twitter is something I am still learning to like. I am not big on social media, however I can see how it will be beneficial in helping me stay up-to-date on current news in educational technology. My classmates have become an excellent source of information on this topic and having a professional learning community is always a nice thing! While I have not been posting often, I do enjoying reading other's tweets.

I teach Pre-k and kindergarten, so I will most likely not be using many of these web 2.0 tools with my students, however I know they will be useful for me in my professional life as an educator.
