I've been exploring Twitter this week as an assignment for my Web 2.0 Tech for Instruction class (ETEC 527). I just created my Twitter account this week, so I am still very new to it and have a great deal to learn. Luckily, my teenage daughter has been able to help me out a bit!

So far, I have only begun following people from class and playing around with the other features on my page. There are so many people to follow, that I am not exactly sure where to start! I'm not yet sure if there is a way to sort out my feed by topic etc. At this point, I feel like it may get very overwhelming if I begin following too many people, too quickly.

The greatest benefit I currently see Twitter offering are the building of a Professional Learning Network (PLN). I have always enjoyed learning from other teachers through reading blogs, however I am very new to the world of educational technology. I feel like Twitter will be useful in helping me connect with other educators and keep up to date on education related technology.

In regards to classroom use, I could likely use Twitter to keep in contact with parents of my students. I teach Pre-K and Kindergarten, so actually using Twitter in the classroom with my students is highly unlikely as far as I understand from my current exploration of it.

I look forward to continuing to explore Twitter and learn how I can use it most effectively!
